Biographies

Steven Copulsky Co-founded Prima Capital Advisors, LLC in January 2003.  Between August 1998 and January 2003, he was with Conning Asset Management Company, Prima’s predecessor entity.  He came to Conning Asset Management in August 1998 with the acquisition of Schroder Mortgage Associates. 

 

Steven is Prima’s head trader and is the portfolio manager for the firm’s account with the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System.  Mr. Copulsky joined Schroder Mortgage Associates in February 1995 as Director of Investments, and was responsible for loan origination, underwriting, and structuring.

 

Prior to joining Schroder, Mr. Copulsky ran real estate financing and investment advisory activities for Swiss Bank Corporation's subsidiary, BSI-Banca della Svizzera Italiana.  Prior to BSI, he was a member of the real estate division at Chemical Bank with responsibilities in several of the real estate lending and investment banking areas.  Mr. Copulsky has financed over $2 billion of real estate projects, including virtually all types of commercial and multi-family real estate.  Prior to Chemical Bank, for three years, he was at Citibank in its real estate division.

 

Mr. Copulsky earned a B.A. degree from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from Columbia University.  He is an Adjunct Professor of Real Estate at New York University’s School of Continuing Education, a member of the Commercial Mortgage Securities Association (CMSA), the Mortgage Bankers Association and an Associate Member of the Urban Land Institute.  He is a member of the editorial board of Pension Real Estate Association (PREA).
